Interesting history behind the Q.R.S. 85 Mills tube.
Because this filamentless design closely resembled Raytheon's own design, Raytheon filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Q.R.S. in 1927/28 which was settled out of court. Soon after, Q.R.S. entire tube manufacturing, tooling, patents and inventory was absorbed by Raytheon. This rare relic from tube radio's earliest days is a great example of that brief period of time and one that doesn't come along very often.
The box shows wear in various areas throughout as can be seen in the photos. The outer label is faded in spots but still very legible. The top box end is missing the label. Rather than pointing out every scuff and flaw, please take a moment to view all 17 photos.
