Our Equipment
✯ Testing ✯
Our tube testers are calibrated on an annual basis in order to provide the most accurate results possible. We prefer the versatility and precision of Hickok TV-10 military testers and use them almost exclusively except in rare instances when pinout/socket compatibility is not possible.
TV-10 military testers are mutual conductance (Gm) testers that were designed for use by the U.S. military. They give an accurate measurement readout in micromhos. Simply put, mutual conductance testers give a much better picture of a tube's performance and life while putting it through a much more rigorous and reliable procedure than that of a much simpler "good/bad" emissions tester.
Over the years we have collected many rare and hard to find Hickok adapters made for the TV-10 series military testers which enable us to test many tubes that others cannot. Additionally, we have amassed a large library of test data made specifically for TV-10 testers - the tube chart that was originally included with them barely scratches the surface of just how many different tubes can actually be tested on these machines.
In rare instances when we cannot use a TV-10 tester because of pinout compatibility, we will rely on a Knight KG-600B emissions tester, but those instances are very few and far between.
Keep in mind that all tube testers are not created equal. Parameters, numerical scales and circuit designs can differ from tester to tester, therefore your tester's readings may show slightly different than ours or vice-versa.
